Why do you do what you do?
I have a lot of interstate clients. I recently met a client of mine for the first time a few weeks ago. When I was introduced to her, she embraced me in a long, tight hug and as she started to cry, told me that she had been going through a lot at the time (divorce, illness, struggling with employment), and amongst tears and hugs, she told to me how much it meant to her to have me on her team and help her to buy her own home. She had gone to a few banks (before coming to me) and was told it was impossible. Because of me, she had her own home, had escaped the nasty relationship that she was in, and was happy to tell me that her employment had stabilised.
To play such an important part of her journey, and to have such a big impact on someone’s life… it completely blew me away (I had no idea at the time of organising her home loan). That is why I do what I do.
What sets you apart from others in your industry?
I think it’s that I love what I do, and I’m passionate about helping people, whatever their goals are ~ become a broker, buy their home, start (or grow) an investment property portfolio, help someone through a divorce (property separation), help someone increase their cash-flow to keep their business alive and allow them to have another child (that was another happy-tears moment with a client of mine). You never know what someone may be going through… and given that a property purchase is one of the largest purchases someone can make, being a part of that journey can have a big impact on peoples’ lives.

Name three things you can’t do business without?
In no particular order, because I think they’re all important in a different way. But all 3 are integral to my success.
1) Natasha (my right hand woman – she has super powers, a degree in finance and is my chief problem solver)… can I just repeat her name 3 times??
2) Darryl (my Business Coach/Life Coach/Shrink!) – a qualified neuro-scientist that I regularly meet with. He gives me the knowledge I need to work out my own brain. He also gives me tangible and practical advice to keep my life under control.
3) Family support – my loved ones at home.
Andy, my partner in life, who cooks me dinner most nights, gives me weekly foot-rubs, and irons my clothes most mornings.
Mum, my biggest supporter, who lives next door, is available for a chat (download), and cooks me dinner when Andy can’t!
My pooch Teddie, the most excited one to see me at nights, he is my running companion… and the cuddles.. Oh the cuddles!
What do you love about being part of Canberra Women in Business?
The wine. Kidding! :o) Creating friendships with like-minded women. I found that it was almost like catching up with friends every month. I love supporting other local Canberra women, whether it be to chat about life, personal things going on in each others lives, or helping somehow with their business, even if that simply means becoming their client.
